How to Get the Pinecil V2 Soldering Iron in Pakistan

By importfromchina.shop teamUpdated October 11, 20269 min read
Quick answer

The Pinecil V2 is a small USB-C soldering iron from Pine64 that runs open IronOS firmware and heats from 100°C to 400°C. It comes with only the iron and one short tip, so you need your own power. A USB-C PD charger that gives 20V at 3A (65W class) is the sensible choice. It is not listed on Daraz when we checked in October 2026, so the usual route is to import one unit with a link.

What is the Pinecil V2 and who is it for?

The Pinecil is a pocket soldering iron made by Pine64. Version 2 is the current model. It is about the size of a thick marker, weighs 28g with the tip fitted, and is powered either from a USB-C charger or a DC barrel jack. There is no base station and no mains cable on the iron itself. You plug it into a charger, set the temperature with two buttons, and it heats up.

It suits people who solder now and then and want something better than a basic 220V plug-in iron: phone and laptop repair hobbyists, people building keyboards or Arduino projects, drone and RC builders, and students who need something that fits in a bag. It is less suited to heavy soldering on thick wires or large ground planes, where a bigger station with more thermal mass still wins.

The firmware is Ralim's IronOS, an open-source project. That matters because the iron gets updates, the menus can be changed, and there is a large community writing guides for it.

What are the Pinecil V2's key specs?

Temperature range100°C to 400°C
Heat-upPine64 says 6 seconds; its older device page says 12 seconds with a strong enough supply
ProcessorBouffalo BL706 RISC-V at 144 MHz, with Bluetooth Low Energy

Included tipST-B2 short tip, 86mm
Size and weight155mm long with tip, 28g with tip
In the boxThe iron and one ST-B2 tip. No cable, no charger

The heat-up figure depends on your power supply. A weak charger gives a slow iron, which is the single most common complaint from new owners.

Which charger works with the Pinecil V2?

Pine64's own documentation recommends a USB-C PD charger rated 65W that can supply 20V at 3A or more. In practice that means a decent laptop-style USB-C charger, not a phone charger. Look at the small print on the charger. You want to see a line like "20V⎓3.25A" or "20V⎓3A" among the outputs.

  • 65W or higher USB-C PD laptop charger: the right choice. At 20V the standard 8 ohm tips draw about 50W and the included 6.2 ohm short tip about 64W, according to the Pine64 wiki's power chart.
  • 12V Quick Charge phone chargers: Pine64 warns that most supply only around 1.5A at 12V, which can cause undervoltage or thermal runaway warnings. QC2 is not supported in IronOS at all.
  • 5V USB ports and old chargers: the iron shows "DC Low". That is enough for menus and firmware updates, not for heating.
  • Power banks: work if the power bank offers USB-C PD at 20V. Many cheaper ones only go to 12V or less, so check the output label.

Pakistan's 220 to 240V mains is not a problem, because the iron never touches mains power. Your charger does, and nearly all laptop-style USB-C chargers accept 100 to 240V. Check the label on the charger itself.

What about the barrel jack and 24V supplies?

The barrel jack gives the most power, up to the 88W rating at 24V. It takes a DC5525 plug (5.5mm outside, 2.5mm inside), centre positive, 12V to 24V, at least 3A. Pine64's wiki gives three warnings worth repeating:

  • A DC5521 plug (2.1mm inner pin) looks almost the same but can break the jack. Do not force it.
  • Cheap "universal" adapters have damaged the iron's power components. Use a fixed 24V supply from a known brand.
  • Never connect USB-C and the barrel jack at the same time.

The wiki also mentions tentative support for 28V USB PD 3.1 EPR chargers with 240W-rated cables. Pine64 has not made this an official rating, so treat it as an experiment, not a buying reason.

The cable matters too. Use a proper USB-C to USB-C cable that is rated for the current you want. A thin charge-only cable that came with a phone can limit the power. The Pine64 wiki specifically says magnetic-tip USB-C cables are not recommended because they are not USB compliant. If you already own a 65W laptop charger with a fixed cable, that cable will usually do the job.

Which tips and accessories are worth adding?

The Pine Store sells a short list of add-ons for the Pinecil. The ones that matter most for a first order:

AccessoryWhy you might want it
Portable Mini StandSomewhere safe to rest a hot iron. The iron does not come with one
Short Tip Set (Fine or Gross)Short tips sit closer to the heater and suit the V2 best
Normal Tip Set (Fine or Gross)Longer reach, slightly less power at 20V
Micro Soldering Tip SetVery fine work on small components
Replacement shell and DC jack socketSpares for later, not needed at first

The wiki says the Pinecil is compatible with other TS100 tips, and the V2 detects whether a 6.2 ohm or 8 ohm tip is fitted. That gives you more choice than Pine64's own sets. For a single item order, the simplest plan is the iron plus the stand. Tips can come later.

Is the Pinecil V2 sold in Pakistan?

It was not listed on Daraz when we checked in October 2026. A search for "pinecil" returned pencils, plus one listing for a Pine64 USB-C cable. What you can buy locally is useful to know as a comparison:

  • 5V 8W USB soldering pens: cheap and portable, but at a fraction of the Pinecil's power they struggle with anything bigger than small wires.
  • 220V plug-in irons, 30W to 60W: fine for basic jobs, but usually without real temperature control.
  • Hot air and soldering stations: better for a fixed workbench, not portable.

Pine64 sells through its own Pine Store and a list of affiliate shops. If you find a seller on another platform, check the listing says Version 2 and shows the green grip, because the older V1 had a light blue grip.

Pinecil V1 or V2: how do you tell them apart?

Maximum input12 to 21V12 to 24V, 88W
BluetoothNoneBluetooth Low Energy

Grip colourLight blueGreen

If a listing does not say which version it is, ask the seller to confirm before you order.

How do you set it up the first time?

  1. Fit the tip and tighten the small screw on top. Do not overtighten it.
  2. Connect the iron to a 65W USB-C PD charger with a proper USB-C cable.
  3. If it heats slowly or shows an undervoltage or "DC Low" message, the charger or cable is the problem. Change it before blaming the iron.
  4. Use the two buttons to set your working temperature, anywhere from 100°C to 400°C. Follow the temperature printed on your solder's packaging.
  5. Check the IronOS version in the menu. Pine64's wiki notes that the Bluetooth apps need IronOS 2.21 or newer. Updating uses Pine64's Blisp tool on Windows, Mac or Linux.
  6. Look through the sleep and idle settings. IronOS has idle detection, a sleep mode and automatic shut-down, which save the tip and reduce risk if you forget it.

Common mistakes with the Pinecil V2

  • Using a phone charger and deciding the iron is weak.
  • Forcing a DC5521 barrel plug into the DC5525 jack.
  • Plugging in USB-C and the barrel jack together.
  • Ordering without a stand and resting a 350°C iron on the desk.
  • Ordering from a listing that does not say whether it is V1 or V2.

How does importing one Pinecil work with us?

Send us the product link on WhatsApp. A link is required, because it tells us the exact version and seller. Within 24 hours you get one price in rupees that covers the item, shipping, Pakistan customs and our fee, with the fee stated upfront. You pay once, before it ships. We buy it, ship it by air and clear customs, and it reaches your door in Pakistan in about 7 to 15 days after the seller dispatches. If you want the stand or a tip set too, send those links in the same message. We handle single items for personal use only, not bulk orders or stock for resale. For more on cost, see what a landed price includes and customs duty from China to Pakistan. Other hard-to-find items are on our products page.

What should you check when it arrives?

  • The grip is green and the box says Version 2.
  • The ST-B2 tip is in the box and sits straight in the iron.
  • With your 65W PD charger connected, the iron heats to your set temperature within seconds and holds it, with no undervoltage message.
  • If anything is wrong, raise it quickly. Our guide to refunds and returns when importing from China explains how that works with Chinese sellers.
