You can send a single item from China to a relative or friend in Pakistan by giving a single-item service the product link and the receiver's full address, phone number and CNIC. You pay once and the receiver pays nothing on delivery. Pakistan has no meaningful gift exemption from duty on parcels, so duty is included in the price you pay. Allow 7 to 15 days after dispatch, more around Eid and Chinese New Year.
Who sends gifts from China to Pakistan?
Three groups, mostly. Pakistanis living or studying in China who want to send something home. Overseas Pakistanis anywhere in the world who have found an item on a Chinese marketplace and want it delivered to family in Pakistan. And people inside Pakistan who want to buy a specific Chinese item for someone in another city and have it go straight to them. In all three cases the parcel travels the same route: seller in China, air cargo to Pakistan, customs, local courier to the receiver's door.
What does the receiver need to provide?
- Full delivery address with area, sector or block, street, house or flat number and a landmark. Pakistani addresses are long and couriers rely on them.
- A mobile number that answers. Couriers call before delivery and return parcels to the depot if nobody picks up.
- CNIC number. Pakistan Customs clearance for an individual's parcel uses the receiver's CNIC. The receiver does not need to go anywhere, but the number must be correct.
- Someone to receive it during working hours, or an agreed alternative such as an office or a neighbour.
If you want the gift to be a surprise, you still need the CNIC. Most people get it from a shared family member who knows about the plan.
Who pays, and how?
You do, once, before the item ships. With a single-item service, the price is one number in rupees that covers the item, air shipping, Pakistan customs and the service fee, which is stated upfront. If you are in Pakistan, you pay by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. If you are abroad, the common arrangement is to have a family member in Pakistan pay in rupees and settle with them, since Pakistani payment methods are the ones that work. Either way, the receiver pays nothing at the door, which is the point of sending a gift.
Is there a gift exemption from customs duty in Pakistan?
Not in any way you can rely on for a parcel like this. Pakistan has no meaningful duty-free threshold for commercial parcels, and a parcel bought from a Chinese seller and shipped by cargo is treated as an import of goods, whatever the occasion. Writing "gift" on the box does not change the assessment. Customs duty, additional customs duty, sales tax and advance income tax apply by tariff classification and commonly add 25 to 60 percent of the customs value. Rates change with budgets and SROs. The practical answer is to use a delivered price that already includes the duty, so neither you nor the receiver is surprised. Read how customs duty from China to Pakistan works.
What gifts travel well, and what should I avoid?
| Good gift imports | Avoid or check first |
|---|---|
| Earbuds, smartwatches, speakers from Chinese brands | Phones, which need PTA registration and tax by the receiver |
| Bags, wallets, watches that are unbranded or genuine Chinese brands | Fake Western brands, which customs seizes |
| Home decor, lamps, kitchen gadgets, tea sets | Perfume, aerosols and nail polish, restricted by air |
| Toys, building sets, plush toys | Drones, routinely held |
| Clothing and shoes, using the seller's cm sizes | Power banks and loose batteries, restricted by air |
| Stationery, art supplies, hobby kits | Supplements, medicines, skincare with active drugs (DRAP) |

How do I time a gift for Eid, a wedding or a birthday?
- Normal timing. Allow 1 to 3 days for the seller to dispatch, then 7 to 15 days door to door including customs. Plan for three weeks to be safe.
- Eid. Pakistani couriers are stretched in the final week before both Eids and pause on the holiday days. Customs also slows. Aim for delivery at least a week before Eid.
- Chinese New Year. Sellers and factories in China close for roughly 2 to 4 weeks from late January to mid February. Orders placed in mid January may not dispatch until late February.
- After 11.11 and 618. Chinese logistics are slower for a couple of weeks after these sale events.
- Pre-order items. Some listings ship 7 to 15 days after ordering. Ask before relying on them for a date.
Can I add a note or gift wrapping?
You can ask the seller. Many Taobao and 1688 sellers will include a card or simple gift packaging on request, sometimes for a small charge, and some will leave the price tag out. This is between you and the seller and is best requested in the order note. The outer carton will still be a plain shipping box with a customs label, because the parcel is an import.

Yes. With a single-item service you pay one price upfront that includes duty, and the receiver pays nothing on delivery.
Is there a gift allowance for customs duty in Pakistan?
Not for a parcel bought from a seller and shipped as cargo. It is assessed as an import regardless of the word gift. Duty and taxes are included in the delivered price.
Does the receiver need to give their CNIC?
Yes. Customs clearance for an individual's parcel uses the receiver's CNIC number. They do not need to visit anywhere.
How long before Eid should I order a gift from China?
At least three to four weeks. Allow 7 to 15 days for delivery after dispatch plus seller handling, and avoid the congested final week before Eid.

You can, but the receiver must register it with PTA and pay the PTA tax after a grace period or it is blocked on networks. A smartwatch or earbuds avoid that.
