Yes. Earbuds, smartwatches and fitness bands are among the easiest single items to import from China to Pakistan because their batteries are built in and air carriers accept them. Customs duty still applies even on cheap items. The two things that go wrong are buying a counterfeit of a famous brand, which customs seizes, and buying a China-market version whose companion app, language or features do not work properly in Pakistan.
Are wearables a good single-item import?
They are close to ideal. Earbuds, smartwatches and fitness bands are small, light, and ship by air without any special handling. The China price on genuine Chinese brands is often well below what the same item costs on Daraz, and the range of models available on Taobao and 1688 is far wider than what reaches Pakistan. A single pair of earbuds or one watch is a sensible first import if you have never done it before.
The product category also has two traps that catch a lot of first-time buyers, so read the counterfeit and app sections before you choose a listing.
Do built-in batteries cause shipping problems?
No. Earbuds, their charging case, smartwatches and bands all have batteries sealed inside the device. Air carriers treat these as devices with contained batteries and ship them on standard lines. What you should not add to the order is a power bank or a loose spare battery, because standalone lithium batteries are restricted by air and need slower special routes. Keep the order to the wearable and its cable, and it travels normally, typically 7 to 15 days door to door after dispatch.
Does customs duty apply to cheap earbuds?
Yes. Pakistan has no meaningful duty-free threshold for commercial parcels, so a low price does not mean no assessment. Duty is charged by HS code, plus additional customs duty, sales tax and advance income tax, on the customs value including freight. Customs uses valuation rulings on many small electronics, so they may assess a set minimum value rather than the price you paid. The combined figure commonly falls in the 25 to 60 percent range of customs value, and it changes with budgets. Build it into your comparison with the local price. Our customs duty guide explains the stack.
The counterfeit problem
Chinese platforms are full of earbuds that look exactly like AirPods, Galaxy Buds or Sony models, and watches that look like an Apple Watch, at a tenth of the real price. These are counterfeits. Pakistani customs seizes counterfeit branded goods and you do not get the money back. Even if one slipped through, the sound quality, battery life and app support are not what the branding suggests.
The safe choice is to buy genuine Chinese brands sold under their own names. Xiaomi, Redmi, Huawei, Honor, Haylou, QCY, Soundpeats, Amazfit and Edifier are examples of real brands with real products at Chinese prices. If the listing uses a Western brand name or logo and the price looks impossible, it is a fake. If the listing avoids any brand name and says "for Apple" or "1:1", it is a fake.
App and region compatibility
This is the issue people do not anticipate. Many Chinese wearables need a companion app, and the China-market version of the device often pairs only with the China version of that app, which may not be on the Pakistani Play Store or App Store, may be in Chinese, or may require a Chinese phone number to register. Firmware prompts and voice feedback on the watch itself may be in Chinese with no English option. Some brands sell a global version of the same watch with an international app and English firmware. That is the version to buy.
Features tied to China also do not travel. NFC payments on Chinese watches work with Chinese payment systems, not Pakistani banks. Cellular smartwatches with an eSIM or SIM slot have an IMEI and may fall under PTA registration rules, so check before ordering one. Health features that depend on a Chinese cloud account may be limited outside China.
What to check for each type of wearable
| Item | Main check | Shipping note |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless earbuds | Genuine brand, not a lookalike; Bluetooth codec your phone supports | Built-in batteries, ships normally |
| Smartwatch | Global version with English firmware and an international app | Ships normally; cellular models may need PTA |
| Fitness band | App availability in Pakistan; language | Ships normally |
| Smart ring or glasses | App region lock; sizing for rings | Ships normally |
| Kids' watch with SIM | PTA registration likely; app in Chinese | Check before ordering |
What commonly goes wrong?
- Seized as counterfeit. The branded lookalike never arrives and the money is gone.
- App will not pair. The China version of the app is required and cannot be installed or registered from Pakistan.
- Chinese-only firmware. Menus and voice prompts cannot be switched to English.
- Wrong variant. Listings bundle colours and versions; the China version is sent when the global one was wanted.
- No warranty. The brand warranty is honoured in China only, so a fault is your cost.
How does a single-item service handle wearables?
Send the listing link on WhatsApp, specifying the version and colour. You get one price in rupees within 24 hours covering the item, air shipping, Pakistan customs and our fee, stated upfront. You pay once before it ships, and it reaches any address in Pakistan in 7 to 15 days after dispatch, with nothing to pay on delivery. We bring one item per order, not resale stock, and we will tell you plainly if a listing looks like a counterfeit that cannot be shipped. Frequently asked questions
Can earbuds with batteries be shipped by air from China to Pakistan?
Yes. Earbuds and their charging case have built-in batteries, which air carriers accept on standard lines. Only loose batteries and power banks are restricted.
Will Pakistani customs seize fake AirPods or Apple Watch copies?
Yes. Counterfeit branded goods are prohibited and seized without compensation. Buy genuine Chinese brands sold under their own names instead.
Does a smartwatch from China need PTA registration?
Only if it has a SIM or eSIM and therefore an IMEI. Standard Bluetooth smartwatches and fitness bands do not. Check cellular models with PTA before ordering.
Will the Chinese smartwatch app work in Pakistan?
Not always. China-market devices often need the China version of the app, which may be unavailable or in Chinese. Buy the global version of the device where one exists.
Is customs duty charged on cheap earbuds from China?
Yes. There is no duty-free threshold for parcels in Pakistan. Duty, sales tax and advance income tax apply on the customs value, and customs may use a minimum valuation for small electronics.
