Is It Safe to Order From China to Pakistan? Risks and Fixes

Quick answer

Ordering from China to Pakistan is generally safe when you buy from rated sellers on the big platforms, avoid branded replicas and restricted goods, pay through a protected channel, and expect customs duty. The risks that actually hurt people are paying a seller outside the platform, ordering counterfeits or restricted items that customs seizes, and getting a surprise duty bill. A single-item service removes the payment and customs uncertainty but cannot make a bad listing good.

What can actually go wrong?

Most orders from China to Pakistan arrive without incident, and the ones that fail follow a small number of patterns. The seller takes payment and does not ship, or ships something worse than the listing. The item is a counterfeit or a restricted product and Pakistan Customs seizes it. The payment fails, or goes to the wrong account. The parcel is damaged, lost or stuck for weeks. Or everything arrives and the duty bill is far bigger than expected.

How likely is a seller scam?

On the main platforms, rare, as long as you stay inside the platform. Alibaba, AliExpress, Taobao and 1688 all hold the payment or offer a dispute route, and a seller who never ships loses the money and often the account. Scams happen when the buyer is moved off the platform: a supplier who asks for a bank wire or Western Union "to save fees". The second, more common risk is not fraud but disappointment: a product that matches the photo and nothing else. Mitigations:

  • Buy from sellers with years on the platform, high sales volume and reviews that include buyer photos.
  • Read the specifications and variant list, not just the pictures.
  • Ask the seller for real photos of the exact variant before ordering. Most will send them.
  • Never pay outside the platform. Our guide to finding reliable Chinese suppliers has the full checklist.

Will customs seize my item?

Only if it is something customs is supposed to seize. Counterfeit branded goods are the biggest category and are taken without compensation. Drones without permission, medicines and supplements without DRAP approval, weapons and realistic weapon lookalikes, and radio equipment without PTA approval follow. Phones are not seized but must be registered with PTA and taxed, or they stop working on Pakistani networks after a grace period. Ordinary goods such as gadgets, tools, clothing, home items and accessories are not seized. They are assessed for duty. The mitigation is simple: do not order anything on the restricted list. What about payment risk?

Two kinds. The first is your money going to a fraudster, covered above: stay on the platform or pay a known, reachable intermediary. The second is simply failure. Pakistani cards are declined on Chinese sites unless international transactions are enabled, PayPak never works abroad, PayPal is not available in Pakistan, and JazzCash, Easypaisa and Raast are not accepted by Chinese platforms. If you pay a Pakistan-based service instead, pay to a business account with a name you can verify, keep the WhatsApp thread, and expect to pay once, before shipping, against one stated price. A service that asks for more money after you have paid, or will not state its fee upfront, is a warning sign. For protection when buying on Alibaba yourself, see how Trade Assurance works.

What about damage, loss and delay?

Parcels by post can take 25 to 60 days and some never arrive. AliExpress refunds non-delivery after the deadline. Air freight and express arrive in days with tracking, and loss is uncommon. Damage happens most to fragile items packed by a seller who expected domestic delivery. Delays cluster around Chinese New Year, when factories close for two to four weeks from late January into February, and right after the 11.11 and 618 sales. If you order in those windows, expect slower dispatch.

What does a single-item service protect you from, and what not?

A service like ours removes four things: the payment problem, because you pay us in rupees once before shipping; the duty surprise, because the one price we quote already includes Pakistan customs and our fee, stated upfront; the restricted-item trap, because we tell you if something cannot be shipped before you pay anything; and most of the delay, because we ship by air with delivery in 7 to 15 days after dispatch.

It does not remove the risk that a listing is simply a poor product. We buy from rated sellers on Alibaba, 1688, Taobao and AliExpress, and what the seller sends is what you receive. If the product is wrong or faulty, we raise it with the seller, with the same limits any buyer faces on returns to China. We handle one item per order, not bulk.

A short safety checklist

  1. Is the item branded at a replica price? Do not order it.
  2. Is it a drone, medicine, weapon lookalike, loose battery, or a phone? Check the rules first.
  3. Does the seller have years of history and photo reviews? If not, find another.
  4. Have you read the variant list and specifications, in translation if needed?
  5. Are you paying on the platform, or to a reachable business you can verify, once, against one stated price?
  6. Do you know the landed price, including duty, before you pay?

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to buy from Alibaba in Pakistan?

Yes, when you pay through Trade Assurance and buy from suppliers with a long history. The main risks are courier shipping cost and the duty bill on arrival, not fraud.

Can I get scammed on AliExpress?

Rarely in the sense of losing money, because non-delivery is refunded. The common problem is receiving a lower-quality item than the photos suggest, which is hard to return from Pakistan.

Will Pakistan Customs open my parcel?

Parcels are scanned and may be opened for assessment. Ordinary goods are assessed for duty, not seized. Counterfeits and restricted items are seized.

Is it safe to pay a sourcing service before the item ships?

It is normal practice. Check the service has a business identity, a verifiable account name, a stated fee and one total price, and keep the WhatsApp record.

What is the safest way to order one item from China to Pakistan?

Choose a rated seller, avoid branded replicas and restricted goods, and buy on delivered duty paid terms so the price you agree is the price you pay. A single-item service does this for you.
